Q. I sent in my child’s camp registration and payment. How soon should I know if they are accepted or not?
A. We do our best to send out email or mail acceptance packages within 10 days of receiving the registration. If you do not receive an acceptance package within this time, please contact the camp. If your child is not accepted because the camp you have chosen is full, we will call you within 1-2 business days of receiving the registration and try to arrange an alternate date that will work for you. Winkler Bible Camp will not hold your child’s spot without registration and either deposit, full payment, or confirmation of alternate funding.
Q. I paid only the deposit when I registered my child. When is the balance due and how can I pay it?
A. The balance of the camp fee is due two weeks prior to the camp session. You will find the remaining balance owing in your child’s acceptance package. You can pay the remainder by credit card over the phone, stopping by the office during hours, or sending payment in the mail. Please ensure that the balance is paid promptly.
Q. What is Winkler Bible Camp’s cabin mate policy?
A. Every effort is made to honour up to two cabinmate requests per camper when they are within two grade years of each other and registering for the same camp session. Both friends must request each other; a maximum of three friends per cabin may be granted.
Q. I can’t afford to send my child to camp. What are my options?
A. Financial assistance is available through the Sunshine Fund managed by Manitoba Camping Association at 204-784-1130 or www.mbcamping.ca. Some funding assistance may also be available through Winkler Bible Camp if you are not approved through the Sunshine Fund.
Q. What is Winkler Bible Camp’s policy for homesick campers?
A. Our cabin leaders are trained to deal with homesick campers, and are usually able to distract them from being homesick. If this does not work, the child may be allowed to call home in an attempt for the parent to encourage the child to stay. Typically the camper is not allowed to call home, but they will be allowed in situations in which the camper is very homesick. If this does not help and the parent and camper agree that the camper should go home, this will be allowed. However, the camper will not be able to return to camp that week, nor will any refund be given.
Q. What should my child bring with him/her to camp?
A. When your child is accepted to camp you will receive an acceptance package either by email or mail. This package contains all the information you need, including a packing list.
The following is a general list of what to bring, but please check the list that was sent to you, as there are small changes between the different camp sessions: Bible & pen or pencil, sleeping bag, pillow and pajamas, swimsuit, beach towel and hat, flashlight, insect repellent, sun screen, warm jacket or sweater, running shoes, suitable camp clothes including pants, long sleeves and several changes of underwear & socks, rain wear (boots recommended), towels, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste and laundry bag.
Q. My child has special needs. Are they able to attend camp?
A. There are a limited number of spots available for campers with physical or intellectual disabilities in which Winkler Bible Camp may provide a one-on-one leader for your child’s stay at camp. Please contact the camp office to inquire about registration.
Q. Does Winkler Bible Camp have emergency storm procedures in place?
A. We are aware that summer weather can be unpredictable in southern Manitoba. It is because of this that we have appropriate procedures in place and practice them when necessary. Our team monitors all weather warnings and acts accordingly.
Q. Are pets allowed on site?
A. No, for the health and safety of our petting zoo, as well as your animals, no pets are allowed on site at any time.
Q. Does Winkler Bible Camp have a camp store?
A. Yes, our camp store sells t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and many other items. The store will be open at registration and pick-up only. Please do not send money with your child. We accept cash, credit card and debit only; no cheques.
